Rooster's Wood-Fired Kitchen
The newest of Jim Noble's Charlotte eateries will be serving a special buffet beginning at 11 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. complete with a carving station featuring leg of lamb and ribeye and brunch selections including shrimp and grits. Prices for the buffet are $25 for adults and $9 for children, however the regular menu will be available. Reservations are recommended.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden
From 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on May 10-11 take mom to walk the scenic floral beauty at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in nearby Belmont. To make these days special, the first 250 moms each day will receive a free potted plant courtesy of Rountree Plantation Garden Center and Greg Briley Photography will also be on hand to capture photos of your day with mom in The Orchid Conservatory, with packages starting at $35. Admission is free to members, $10 for adults, $9 for seniors 60+, and $5 for children ages 4-12.

Rick Alviti Live at El Maguey Idlewild
Now, most of my friends balked at the idea of seeing an Elvis impersonator on Mother's Day. But combine Rick Alviti's impersonation of the King with El Maguey's traditional Mexican fare -- and maybe a margarita or two -- and depending on the mom, you can't go wrong. Doors open at 4 p.m., dinner is at 5 p.m. with the show following at 6 p.m. $35 per person includes dinner and a show.
