The team is made up of former elite college softball players (many from around the area), and coached by Teresa Wilson - a veteran of nine women's College World Series.
The Diamonds play teams from Akron, Chicago, and the USSSA.
They play their home games not just around Charlotte, but in a sort of barnstorming tour across the state - from Raleigh to Greenville to Asheville. Their home stadiums include at CMC NorthEast Stadium in Kannapolis, McCormick Field in Asheville, Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C., Five County Stadium in Zebulon (Raleigh), North Davidson High Stadium in Lexington and L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory.
North Carolina has played host to professional fastpitch before, with the former Women’s Pro Fastpitch (WPF) League and the Women’s Pro Softball League (WPSL) having teams in Durham (Durham Dragons) and Gastonia through the 1997, 1998, and 1999 seasons.
Check out their 2012 season schedule to find out when they'll be playing their next game.
