Guide Review - Ilios Noche Review
Chef and owners Stratos Lambos and Angelo Kaltsounis stuck to their Greek roots and opened Ilios Noche in 2004 as a bakery, lunch counter and restaurant. My girlfriends and I decided to give South Charlotte's Ilios Noche a whirl on a Saturday night as none of us had tried the Greek eatery and bakery before. In hopes of a girls' night out filled with good food, drinks and a warm, inviting environment, we were not disappointed.
Because there were six in our party we called ahead for reservations which was a good thing as the restaurant was packed when we got there and continued to stay full the entire time we were there.
We started with the homemade pita and spread sampler which included a smoked eggplant spread, a roasted red pepper "htipiti", a traditional hummus and the table favorite, the traditional Greek condiment "tzatziki" which combines cucumber yogurt, dill and garlic. We also ordered the saganaki appetizer, a pan-fried cheese spread. All were delicious.
Sufficiently filling up on appetizers I was hesitant on what to order for a main course as many of the portions seemed large and filling. I opted for the Ilios Souvlaki sandwich with a marinated chicken breast, red onion, romaine leaves, marinated tomatoes and more of the tzatziki that I couldn't get enough of. The "greek chips" or fries that accompanied the sandwich were fried and seasoned to perfection.
Ilios Noche also features a variety of fresh pasta dishes served in half or full portions depending on your appetite and offers a full dessert menu including baklava.
