Description
Guide Review - Cajun Yard Dog Review
Nestled in a tucked away corner of the bustling and sprawled-out Arboretum Shopping Center in South Charlotte is Cajun Yard Dog, a little slice of New Orleans right here in the Queen City. Owner and Chef Chris Edwards along with his wife Sue, run the Yard Dog and the newly renovated New South Restaurant just across the parking lot in the same shopping center.

When you walk into Cajun Yard Dog the hostess smiles and greets you as though she's discovered a long lost friend. Kids? Not a problem! There are 'gator-illustrated menus and crayons aplenty for the little ones. On the back wall is a giant dry erase board with the day's fresh catch, soup of the day, appetizer special and constantly changing beer list.

The appetizer menu ranges from the Yard Dog's signature Jalapeno Deviled Eggs to Crab Cakes served with a Spicy Chipotle Aioli and all are equally impressive. While the Cajun Yard Dog has an abundance of seafood on the menu and traditional Cajun favorites like Jambalaya and Etouffe, don't discount the rest of the menu. My personal favorite which definitely soothes the soul on a chilly fall evening is the Cajun Fried Turkey with Pepper Gravy. I also recommend choosing the smashed potatoes and cucumber salad to balance the heat.

The restaurant also features live music on the weekends and is closed on Sundays.
