About the Arboretum:
Charlotte's Arboretum area is named after The Arboretum Shopping Center, a huge outdoor shopping center anchored by Charlotte's first Wal-Mart and one of the largest Harris Teeter grocery stores in the area. The Arboretum area also gets its name from the vast amount of trees in the area. The Arboretum Shopping Center sits at the intersection of Providence Rd. (Route 16) and Pineville-Matthews Rd. (NC-51). Popular subdivisions in the Arboretum area are Providence Plantation, Hembstead, Beverly Crest, Raintree, Candlewyck and Piper Glen. Locals refer to this area as "The Arb".
How to Get to the Arboretum:

Visiting the Arboretum:
The Arboretum isn't much of a tourist destination, but it is a heavy residential area. If you live near the Arboretum and have family or friends visiting, the closest hotels are in Charlotte's SouthPark area, most notably, the Doubletree Guest Suites and the Marriott's Park Hotel.
