Setting up utilities after completing a move can be a daunting task. Here is a complete list of the Charlotte area utility providers for your benefit.

Power

All electricity in Mecklenburg County is provided by Duke Power. All service inquiries can be handled by visiting the Duke Power website or by calling their customer service line at 800-600-DUKE. If you choose to live in one of Charlotte's suburbs, the following areas use the corresponding electric companies:

Gas

All natural gas in Mecklenburg County is provided by Piedmont Natural Gas. You can call their customer service line at 1-800-752-7504 or E-mail customerselfservice@piedmontng.com. If you choose to live in one of Charlotte's suburbs, the following areas use the corresponding gas providers:

Water

The City of Charlotte Department of Water & Sewer provides water to those within city limits as well as to the town of Matthews in Mecklenburg County. To turn on service call 704-336-2211. If you are choosing to live in a surrounding city, here are the corresponding water providers:

Sanitation

There are several telephone companies servicing the greater Charlotte area, but not each resident has a choice in who their provider is. So please call one of the companies to find out who your area provider is to set up your service. Most telephone companies in the area offer DSL service as well.
