2012 marks the third year of the Lake Norman Beerfest, a now annual event with the goal of, "bringing people together to experience great craft beers, music from local bands, with a portion of all proceeds benefiting Grin Kids Children’s Charity." This year's festival will be held from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Galway Hooker, 17044 Kenton Drive in Cornelius.

With a focus on local beers, close to 20 different breweries (local, national, and international) will present almost 60 different brews. Breweries participating this year include:

  • Carolina Brewery
  • Crispin
  • Crown Imports
  • Fox Barrel Ciders
  • Great Lakes
  • Kind Beers
  • The Lion Brewery

  • Newcastle
  • NoDa
  • RJ Rockers
  • Starr Hill
  • SweetWater
There's plenty of live music too, from the bands Simplified (3 to 5 p.m.), Of Good Nature (5 to 7 p.m.), Dave Kellan (7 to 8 p.m.), and Charity Case (8 to 9 p.m.).
