Charlotte's Best Mexican Restaurants

By Addie Rising, About.com

While a southern city in the heart of the Carolinas, Charlotte's Mexican Restaurant choices are quite abundant. Here is a sampling of some of the best cuisine from south of the border that the Queen City has to offer.

Cabo Fish Taco Baja Seagrill

Cabo Fish Taco Baja Seagrill is one of Charlotte's Best Mexican Restaurants.Cabo Fish Taco Baja Seagrill
As a native Californian, I felt right at home in NoDa's Cabo Fish Taco Baja Seagrill. The interior is reminiscent of a beachside eatery while the food served up has all the right Southwest flavors. Whatever you do, don't miss the original Cabo Fish Taco featuring beer-battered cod, cabbage, tomato, avocado, mixed cheeses and the homemade white cilantro sauce.

Cantina 1511

With two locations, Frank Scibelli has a gem with Cantina 1511. The tableside-made guacamole is a must-have and the house margaritas are perfect for celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Whether you're business-lunching, going out with friends, enjoying a romantic date or taking the family to Sunday brunch, Cantina 1511 covers all the bases with its modern spin on traditional Mexican fare.

Senor Tequila Cantina Grill

Tucked inside the South Charlotte strip mall that is home to Trader Joe's sits Senor Tequila Cantina Grill. With only a dozen or so tables inside and a handful more outside, getting a spot on a weekend evening can be challenging, but it's well worth it. This hideaway boast some of the most authentic Mexican flavors in town and a friendly wait staff to boot.

Maria Bonita's Cantina & Grill

Maria Bonita's is a favorite of mine as both an eatery and a place to have a margarita and split some queso dip with friends. While the Enchiladas Suizas are my personal favorite, I'm also a fan of their skirt steak and Arroz con Pollo.
