The 2012 About.com Charlotte Readers’ Choice Awards are designed to showcase some of the best places, businesses, things to do and events in the Queen City. Nominations were accepted in January, and the top five nominees in each category were selected to move on to the voting phase. For one month, people voted. Now, here are your winners - the best in Charlotte for 2012!
1. The Best Live Music Venue in Charlotte
The nominees were The Fillmore, Neighborhood Theatre, Belk Theater, Amos' Southend and the Evening Muse.
2. The Best Annual Festival in Charlotte
The nominees were Queen's Feast: Charlotte Restaurant Week, Time Warner Cable BBQ and Blues, Charlotte Oktoberfest, Festival in the Park and Yiasou Greek Festival.
3. The Best Coffee in Charlotte
The nominees were FABO, Central Coffee Company, Dilworth Coffee, Amelie's French Bakery and Not Just Coffee.
4. The Best Morning Radio Show in Charlotte
The nominees were Ace & TJ, Woody & Wilcox, Tanner in the Morning, Bob & Sheri and John Boy & Billy.
5. The Best Bakery in Charlotte
The nominees were Amelie's, Tizzerts, Sunflour Baking Company and Suarez Bakery.
6. The Best Place to Worship in Charlotte
The nominees were Elevation Church, Laurel Baptist Church, Calvary Church, Forest Hill Church and Central Church of God.
7. The Best Place to Get a Manicure or Pedicure in Charlotte
The nominees were Midtown Nails, Modern Salon and Spa, Re Salon and Med Spa, Polished and The Spa at Ballantyne.
8. The Best Place for a Kid's Birthday Party in Charlotte
The nominees were Monkey Joe's, Sky High Sports, KidzArt, Shug-A-Bug Kids Spa and NASCAR Speedpark.
9. The Best Pet Boarding or Doggy Day Care Facility in Charlotte
The nominees were Camp Bow Wow, Puptown Charlotte, Dogtopia, the Barker Lounge and All Wags.
10. The Best Gym or Fitness Club in Charlotte
The nominees were Gunn's Fitness, Charlotte Krav Maga, Arrichion Hot Yoga, the YMCA of Charlotte and Pride Conditioning.
11. The Best Museum in Charlotte
The nominees were The Mint Museum, Charlotte Museum of History, NASCAR Hall of Fame, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Billy Graham Library.
